You're sure to spot something different if you visit the church property today. The big blue and white tent that was our home since April last year has been taken down and is due to be passed on to another church group soon. Here's a picture of it all packed up and ready to go. The smaller Sunday School tent left a couple of weeks ago.
We are so pleased to be in our new building, but certainly those who worshipped in the tent over the last year will always have very fond memories of this old friend! The plans now for the bottom section of the property are to level it out a little and grass it for parking. Watch this space for an invitation to a work party some time soon...

The day before our first service in the new building a group of us went out to the site to get the hall ready - carrying chairs, hanging banners, testing sound and video equipment. Here are Anita, Michael and Izak triple-teaming one of the banners.
This last Sunday we dedicated the garden of remembrance on our property. An initial six plaques were put up on the wall on Sunday. If you're interested in buying a plaque, you can contact the church office or download a form
Part of the design of the new church includes a beautiful garden and wall of remembrance, which we will be officially opening on Sunday 6 March. If you're interesting in buying a plaque to put on the wall, you can get all the details
Yesterday morning a work party assembled on the site to do some gardening - planting trees and shrubs along the perimeter beds at the top of the property. We were done in a couple of hours - just before the rain came - and were very pleased with our efforts!
We marked Arbour Day on 5 September by launching our Enviromend project and planting 22 trees on the site at NMC.
Join us on Arbour Day (Sunday 5 Sept) for the launch of a new KMC / NMC environment project. The service on that morning will focus on caring for creation and will be followed by the opening of a new recycling centre (at both KMC and NMC) and a tree-planting ceremony at NMC. More details to follow.
Construction of the new church at NMC is carrying on at a good pace. This is a view of the foundation wall of the hall and our plan is to set up a memorial garden in this section of the property. Watch the slide show at the top of the homepage for more pictures of the building progress.
The two tents on our site were erected last week - the smaller (7x12m) Sunday School tent on Tuesday and the main worship tent (9x18m) on Thursday morning.
Pic 3: If those were work in progress, this is tea in progress...
So many people played a role in the final preparations for our first service - co-ordinating the effort to get the site ready, decorating the interior of the tent, praying, arranging sigange, distributing pamphlets, carrying equipment, providing refreshments.
Well, yes there has been a burst of new life and activity on the site of our new church, but this refers to new life of a different sort.
